HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Wishing you all peace and joy at Christmas time, and through the coming year.

The sparkle in my Grandkids eyes,
Of wonder and delight
Shines brighter than any Christmas lights,
Glowing in the night.

Just adding an Aussie link so you can read how we celebrate Christmas. If you are in another Country by the time you read this, we are probably right into the swing of celebrating a hot 30degree Christmas.

CHRISTMAS - A SPECIAL MEANING

When I was a child I can remember the best times about Christmas, were helping my dear mother make Christmas cake, biscuits and sweets, arrange them on a paper plate with a paper doily and then wrap each plate in red cellophane and tie it with a bow, and then EARLY Christmas morning my dad would drive us from our home in Mt. Crawford to Gawler for Christmas dinner with all the Aunts & Uncles and cousins, and along the way we use to deliver all these beautiful goodies. We gave them to the older folk, and folk my mother thought would be having a lonely Christmas. I can still remember running from the car with my Christmas dress on and my long hair in plaits with BIG Christmas bows, and knocking on the front door of the homes, and seeing the look on the faces of those I was giving a Chrissie gift to. It seemed such a long way between houses, and even a long way to run from the car to their front doors.

I think about this every Christmas, and wish I could be that little girl again, so a while ago I thought I would do something for someone else, and set about knitting "little things" for the Premmie Babies. I took a parcel of these "little things" into the Gold Coast Hospital last week, and thought no more about it. When I went to the Post Office this morning I opened the most beautiful card, and inside was this letter and a pic of one of their precious little bundles in a Santa hat. I was so excited - I cried. I am having the BEST Christmas ever.

NATURE'S HELICOPTER

Just wanted to share this pic with you. My dearly beloved has taken a liking to MY camera and took a pic of a Dragonfly this morning. It's hard for me to admit that he actually took the pic..

Daisy Throw

I had no idea it was so long ago that I blogged. Lots of things have happened since then - like the loss of one of our cherished friends.

I've just made this video and will try to upload it on here for you. If I can get this to work I promise lots more. There are so many ideas I have running around in my head, that all need to be put on paper and in pictures, so that you too can enjoy using The Butterfly Loom. Use any yarn of your choice. Sock yarn looks lovely. These daisies are so quick and easy to do, and look lovely all joined together as a Throw. Have fun.

TAKE TIME TO SMELL THE ROSES

The gentleness of the petals, the intense colour, the fragrance that wafts from the flowers - they are a few of the reasons I love my garden.

RAINY DAY

It's a very rainy day here today on the Gold Coast. A great day to touch and feel and caress yarn! All was quiet, and suddenly a Lion cub pounced in making the biggest growls you have ever heard.
Grey skies seem to make the grass and shrubs appear a little greener
and the flowers a little brighter
and the buds almost ready to spring open. This is such a pretty bush, has beautiful waxy flowers, and when they open I'll post a picture.

Spotlight has a new Get Creative Magazine just released. There are 2 beautiful Throws and a Cushion cover in the Magazine created on The Butterfly Loom. Tomorrow I will post pictures and the patterns for you.

I'm off to find some pretty yarn amongst my stash to send my great niece Caitlin,so she can make herself a Scarf. I'm hoping she will send me a picture of it when it is finished so I can post her creation.

A DAISY A DAY

We had rain so I decided to have a look around the garden
and each of these Daisies were nodding at me saying
"Take a picture of me - I'm the prettiest by far"
I think this one is my favourite - but then how can I hurt the other Daisies' feelings - they are all beautiful -

UP, UP AND AWAY

Tia created this gorgeous scarf - a delight for any little girl . She used the Small Loom, and two of her favourite Yarns, worked 13 motifs and slip stitched them together, and added a quick fringe.

Early morning, the sun was just rising and a Hot Air Balloon with Tourists in the Basket was silently gliding across the sky. Notice the color of the Tulip Tree beneath the Balloon - amazing!

I heard Kookaburras laughing and swung the camera around and could see them way off sitting out on the limb of a Gum Tree, and it was if they were saying "Look at us, take a picture of us too". If you click on the picture to enlarge it, you will be able to see them.

THANKS FOR THE RAIN

We had 4" of rain yesterday, and thought I'd wander out into the garden to see how things were, and much to my suprise found this beautiful Orchid swaying in the breeze, still covered in raindrops -

and the Brazilian Dancing Girl in all her glory.

EVERY LITTLE GIRL'S DREAM

Every little girl loves to create with yarn. Grab a ball of your favourite yarn, wrap and knot a small Board, and create 6 Motifs. Join 4 together into a circle, using a slip stitch, and then join the 5th one to the bottom of the circle. With the 6th Motif, put it over dolly's head creating a little dress.

Thread ribbon through the top of the little purse - great place to keep your dolly. Something to treasure, or give to a special friend.

PERFECT END TO ANY DAY

The old saying "Pink in the morning, Shepherds' warning, Pink at night, Shepherds' delight."
Mmmhhh - Do I see a face in this cloud?

Dancing clouds at sunset.

A GREAT MORNING

A great morning teaching some of the folk at the Currumbin RSL Nursing Home how to use The Butterfly Loom. They were so happy and excited to use lovely yarn. Many of these folk can't knit or crochet any more because of their arthritic fingers, but found it very easy to "wrap & knot".

Think I'll suprise my wife with a new scarf. Thanks for your help Kyle. You are a great D.T.

Thanks for your help and inspiration Deb - you are a special Diversional Therapist.

In a few weeks time they will display their goodies in the Mudgereeba Show.
